When WBUR Went on the Air

Well, according to this clipping in the Boston Herald from 26 February
1950, "A three year dream of Professor Samuel Gould, head of the radio
division at Boston University's School of Public Relations, will be
realized next Wednesday when the university's own radio station, WBUR, goes
into operation. The 400 watt frequency modulation station, New England's
most powerful educational outlet of its type, will be heard for the first
time Wednesday at 90.9 megacycles on Channel 215. Its first program will
be a special two hour dedication. Thereafter, WBUR will be heard without
commercials, Monday through Friday from 2 to 8 pm..."
