surely there's a way around that... just as most 
subscribers to cable television figured out how to run a 
little extra co-ax cable down and up and through the 
house...  would it be cheaper to, say, run an AC power 
converter to your vehicle's unit and then add some extra 
speaker wire to the house?

the removable-dash unit to which Brian referred might be 
a better alternative, but would you still need to use 
the vehicle's antenna system to make it work?  
*anything* installed in a vehicle is removable, to 
someone who really wants to do the removing.
