Distance between studios & transmitters

The distance from Portland to Sanford is 34 miles.
(Remebering the many drives to Mt. Rialto Radio):) The
problem is this station lacks a listenable signal to
be sold as a Portland radio station, even as a rim
shooter. 
 How about the spread from WOKQ in Dover N.H. to the
transmitter on Mount Washington? According to Map
Quest, that distance is 101.9 miles. Undoubtedly
shorter by air miles, but still quite a haul.
