Good to know! That would explain why stations
licensed to a smaller city would include the name
of the larger city, to show that they serve that
larger city. If the FCC forbid putting the names
of other cities after the calls and city of license,
you'd have "WQSX Lawrence" and "WKLB Lowell" only,
making them sound like strictly Merrimack Valley
stations. But since they're allowed to put whatever
they want after city of license, they put in "Boston"
to emphasize that they're really a Boston station.

(And as it is, both stations do have studios in
Boston, right? As does Worcester's WAAF. So they
"serve" Boston, even if the city of license is
more than a few towns removed from there...)
