community groups on college radio
...also, I should add that some community groups are
putting their ethnic or religious shows on college
or non-commercial radio. For example, my own station
WMWM has a block of Spanish language programming on
Saturdays. They get many requests (the phone's ringing
off the hook when I've popped down to WMWM during
these shows) and one show, "La Gozadera", has won
some awards from the local community.
(I think these WMWM shows are run by Salem State
students but there are local Hispanic groups involved
as well.) But again (as I said in my last post),
many of these groups are turning to pirate stations
instead of licensed ones...
