FoxNews ...
I have been an avid FoxNews viewer since its inception on my system and I watch their prime time lineup almost every night. But I have been EXTREMELY uncomfortable with their coverage of the WTC situation of late.
It has hardly been "fair and balanced."
First, almost all their guest are ex-military people or Republicans like Newt Gingrich or Bob Barr, beating the Bush/Cheney war drum, and there has been no one allowed to speak from the position of trying to find a peaceful solution to this matter like Cardinal Bernard Law. They also allowed Gingrich go off irresponsibly, IMHO, by saying that it was time for America to start their own holy war and annihilate Afghanistan even before bin Laden has even been found guilty of the WTC atrocity.
Their newscasters have also berated anyone who does not cowtow to the wardrum line.
For example, the former Ambassodor of Iraq, appointed by Reagan I believe, was on yesterday and attempted to explain the Islamic position in the matter and how they view our country as terrorists for killing thousands in the bombing of the Sudan aspirin factory and for allowing over a million Iraqi women and children to die due to the sanctions, etc. The newscasters immediately jumped on him saying something like 'Hey, wait a minute, you can't call our country terrorist ... blah, blah' ... which was not what the former Ambassador was trying to say at all. A few minutes later they cut him off and ended the interview. That was the first time in almost a week I have heard anything remotely trying to explain the situation beyond 'let's bomb them into hell.'
As well, while these military types have been saying "this could be a 10-15 year war" or "we may have to use nuclear weapons" NONE of the newscasters have followed up with important questions like "Do you think the American people will accept thousands of soldiers coming home in bodybags during a 10 year war?" or even "Do you really think it is wise retired general whatever to possibly start World War 3 by using nuclear weapons?"
I mean all this stuff is beyond Dr. Stranglove. So much for "fair and balance" and so much for "journalistic integrity."
