Re: Our Deep Resolve

WDRC-FM Hartford is playing a soundbite-enhanced version of Ray Charles'
"America the Beautiful." Heard it twice in five hours yesterday.

Also on 'DRC-FM, at around 11:30 a.m., I heard the intro and first line
of "New York Mining Disaster 1941," ("In the event of something
happening to me...") then the song was abruptly potted down and replaced
by Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin."
(that's how they spelled it)

I think I heard the radio equivalent of what we in the print media call
a "mandatory kill." I'll bet someone at DRC realized that lyrics about
people being buried in New York would be the worst thing you could put
on the air and made a quick fix. There's one song we won't be hearing
for awhile.

Of course, this isn't a problem for your standard WODS/WROR-type oldies
station, which wouldn't be playing "New York Mining Disaster" anyway,
right?
