And if you pronounce "Lowell" properly, you can move it along even
_faster_. FYI, locals pronounce it, "Lole." Despite that, I've always
leaned towards Lo-w'll. Another Merrimack Valley town in Mass.,
Chelmsford, has varied pronounciations. "CheLmz-ford, Chemz-ferd, and
then the all-time fave, (don't ask) Chempsfid." Tewksbury: "Tooks'
brie (locals) then there's the "new guy in radio way to say it"
Toooks-bury (so wrong it's funny). But, since these towns are but a
speck in the overall Boston ADI, even if you alienate the entire town,
no one else will notice or care. Wrong: PEA-body, RIght: PEA bidy.
Wrong: CON-kord Right: Cong' kerd.
