A news station that doesn't want to run local political spots most likely takes that position because it needs to be a regional cume magnet.  Most listeners won't care about local political issues because they really aren't affected.

Furthermore, in this day of increased spot loads, inventory crunch, and budget pressure, what station would want to embrace an advertiser category that is mandated to get the lowest possible unit rate?
