A posting by an alleged Channel 5 insider on the Boston Herald message board
details the following cuts; take them with a compulsory grain of salt:

1.  Chronicle cancelled, most of its staff fired

2.  Noon weekend news gone

3.  "5 on 5," "Cityline," or both get the axe

4.  Unspecified anchor and reporter contract buyouts

5.  Its satellite WMUR will see even more severe cuts.  Morning and noon
newscasts on weekdays and weekends will disappear; WMUR will simulcast WCVB's
weekday morning news, which will incorporate some New Hampshire news content.

Head count reduction estimate: 30 at WCVB, 17 at WMUR.

If any of it is true, this is far more than a trim - it's a travesty!  Gotta
hand it to Imes, though; they picked to perfect time to cash out.
