Channel 7 owner, Boston Herald avoid libel suit

The Boston Globe reports that Ed Ansin has settled his differences with Boston
Herald owner Pat Purcell over a sharply critical article by columnist Margery
Eagan.  Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

The Herald column, which ran in the wake of Channel 7's firing of pregnant
anchor Kim Carrigan a month shy of the expiration of her contract, characterized
the owner of Boston's NBC affiliate as a ''despicable, ruthless,
egomaniacal, power-mad narcissistic troll in need of psychoanalytic
intervention."
