Re: New FM station tuning in to Calais



Wow! It appears this station is specifically intending to offer many of the
community-oriented programming services that big radio is cutting. Local
news, artists, and even an opportunity to develop new local talent! What
more could you ask for?

Maybe their plan will be a good test case for the return of community radio.
With the backing and resources of Irving Oil, even if the station fails to
make money initially there are plenty of trial balloons that could be
floated to get the right combination without causing even a sneeze to
Irving's overall bottom line.

It will be interesting to see how they perform and what the fallout is in
the somewhat limited market. I wonder if Irving plans to enter broadcasting
on a larger scale.

...And I wonder if our friend Jeremy is watching for opportunities!
