Re: WNSH is back on the air
SBN probably is Salem. If so, Salem has either changed the name of the news
service yet again, or it has at least one more hourly satellite news
feed--using the name SRN. When WBNW is running the Business Talk Network out
of Colorado Springs the news feeds come from (or maybe came from) SRN. I
haven't heard the SRN feed recently enough to know whether its name has
changed again. I know that, before it became SRN, the feed used to have
a different name, which I don't recall, but that feed, too, came from Salem.
Although some of Salem's news feeds avoid using the Salem name,
the focus of the feeds provides a pretty good clue to their source.
Even their "secular" feeds are heavy on items that are primarily of
interest to the Religious Right. This is even more true in the feeds that
are tailored to Christian-formatted stations. The first Amendment protects
Salem's choice of what it airs as news and I suppose that Salem feels
that it is performing a public service by providing what it sees as balance
in broadcast news, since the Right continues to assert that the mainstream
media are under the control of a Leftist cabal.
