Chris Russo filled in for him Wed. and Thu. nights and
told his listeners that "these will be my final two
shows" (i.e., doing those two fill-ins...) Unless
SportsFan wants to only exist for the purpose of
running J.T. the Brick, its days indeed may be
numbered. 

J.T. has said his show is good because he lets the
fans talk instead of doing canned interviews or having
sportswriters gab on about sports instead of the
true fans. He does want his fans to show some passion
in their calls--and hopefully some insightful comments
too (he encourages listeners to "put your calls
together"; i.e., have something interesting to say
or don't call) but sometimes this results in sports
yahoos shouting and ranting. He's even had contests
to see which caller does the best job at berating
and out-yelling other callers.
