As has been pointed out here, I think the WEEI change from the 'NewsRadio
59' to
NewsRadio 590 had a lot to do with digital tuning read outs on radio
receivers
becoming widespread. Remember that it was the in the early 80s when
automakers began to equip cars with digital tuning readout radios. That
probably was the reason for the WEEI change.
