CNN and reaction to shootings

Just saw a CNN report about the school shootings in
Santee, California. Alleged killer Charles Andrew
Williams' mother was interviewed at her home in
South Carolina (she and Charles' father were divorced
10 years ago). She was full of sorrow and in tears,
yet the CNN reporter kept asking her questions. At
no time was the reporter heard to say, "we're very
sorry to bother you at a time like this... maybe
we should come back later".

A phone was ringing off the hook in the background
as the woman stood tearfully, talking to the reporter
at her door. I don't know if the CNN reporter actually
did apologize for asking her all these questions at
a time like this, but if he did, it was not shown.

"Can we film the operation
Is the head dead yet?
You know the boys in the newsroom
Got a running bet
Get the widow on the set
We need dirty laundry..."
