Re: Share-times (was Fw: WTHT)
Dan's recollection of the WBAP/WFAA sharetime is outstanding...'cept for
one little thing.
The 570 that was moved into the market to be the "other half" of the
sharetime was "KGKO," not "KKGO."
[And to whomever asked about TV sharetimes: a few that come to mind,
both now defunct, are WBBS 60 West Chicago and WPWR 60 Aurora IL. WBBS
was Spanish, WPWR was an indy, and the situation was resolved in the
eighties when WPWR negotiated to take over the defunct noncomm allocation
for channel 50 in Gary IN, opened channel 56 in Gary for noncomm use
(which became and remains WYIN-TV), and passed channel 60 to the
Home Shopping Network to become WEHS-TV. Another set was the two
educational operators sharing channel 2 in Miami, where the city schools
had WTHS and a separate group had WPBT. The schools eventually moved
off channel 2 to channel 17, as WLRN.]
