Bob Nelson hit the nail on the head.  It's 100% about ratings, and ratings 
are generated by recall and top-of-mind.  They're not supposed to be, but 
they absolutely are.  That's why mentioning enemy call letters is a bad idea.

In the case of legendary call letters no longer in use (Chuck Igo mentioned 
WHDH), they should be avoided if they are the immediately previous calls for 
any station in the market.  I was inspecting diaries at Arbitron just last 
week, and it's amazing how often you see someone write down WHDH when they're 
listening to WEEI.
EEI, of course, gets the credit.

In the case of Brudnoy mentioning WRKO...he has such a huge lead at night 
over WRKO (he's #2 with an 8.6, RKO is 12th with a 2.8) that it doesn't 
matter.
