I haven't seen the Globe article, but like today's Union Leader article,
it is likely based on a front page article in the July 3rd issue of
Electronic Media (@2000 Crain Communications Inc.).  Credit E.M. for the
wrong signon date for WMUR TV.  As Kent Brockman pointed out, TV signed
on March 28, 1954 at 4PM.

WMUR AM (now WGIR) signed on October 2, 1941, 5:45PM, so E.M. was wrong
on that count as well.
