WAVM/WUMB feud

It would not be the first time WUMB tried to do a "manifest destiny"
to a high school station. WHSR/91.9 in Winchester was on the air from
1959 until 1990. First they had an application to move to 89.3. Had
the CP and did some over the air testing. While WGBH and WERS did not
contest the CP they did contest an operating license to WHSR. They
(WHSR) contacted WUMB if they could return to their old assignment of
91.9. WUMB did not contest the granting of the Modification of thei
Permit to return to 91.9. No sooner then they flipped the switch to
turn on, WUMB protested to the FCC. WUMB said that they would try
to "help Winchester High School find another frequency or help them
go to cable". WHSR is no more. BTW: Arnie "Woo-Woo" Ginsburg put
WHSR on the air in 1959 as their first chief engineer. Good station, too.
I used to get it even down in Randolph. What a shame. WAVM, same thing,
great station being stepped on a-la WUMB.
