Likely more of an overall systems problem in terms of how Arbitron
captures data (nothing new...) If diary holders still think 'EEI
despite listening to 'TKK? Other stuff like that. Think of the
stations who have to register their long gone slogans with Arb. so
that they don't lose credit for it, often years later. You have to
wonder why broadcasters, swapping calls, liners, personalities....
Another scenario, ex. if (more like when) Jimmy Roberts reappears in
the market, and Jimmy's ben listed with Arb. as a WROR personality.
THe new signal may wonder if his previous employer could grab some
of that diary action, or vice versa. Ironically, if the market
could just chill and stay the course (and maybe take a risk with
some <cough> fresh, local talent....) perhaps the ratings data could
find a good balance between reality and fantasy.
