The 1996 population of Montreal, not including the suburbs, was 
about a million people.  Of those, only 109,000 were English 
speakers.  Although that does exclude some of the more Anglo 
suburbs, you can still see that English Montreal as a stand-alone 
market is somewhere around the size of Lowell.
