FM Boosters

Hello.

I had a question regarding FM booster transmitters...
About 10 years or more ago, I was looking through Bruce
Elving's (Spelling may be wrong) FM Atlas. I remember
seeing the listing for WRKI in Brookfield, CT., and
remember it having a few "boosters" around other parts
of Connecticut. When tuning in to 95.1, I do remember
hearing that station in different parts of CT, and also
remember hearing what sounded like a competing signal
even though the same audio was present, similar to the
WPHX/WNHQ "hash zone" between the transmitters. My
question is.. Are any boosters still used in New
England? I have not seen a recent copy of the FM
Atlas. I also was wondering why say, WAAF with their
Paxton signal did not have a booster on the Pru or
something. I also recall WVBF or whatever 105.7 was
called then, as having a downtown booster. Does this
create a FM type "hash zone" that may be unacceptable?

Thanks. Just wondering about this.

By the way, I very much enjoy reading all the different
posts on this group. I learn different things all the
time and enjoy the enthusiasm here!

Best Regards!
