Re: More on WPTR

As far as I know, Crawford has one more AM in New York
State to switch over to the Legends format--1390 in
Syracuse, a very good signal, especially since the TX
was relocated half a dozen years ago. In fact, if he
flips that one, he may have put a Legends format in
every market in the country where he owns an AM. Does
anyone know what his plans are in Syracuse and whether
there are any markets in which he owns AMs but in which
none of his AMs is running the format?

One thing he doesn't seem to be afraid of is entrenched
competition, although, in Denver, where his KLZ is up
against KOSI (I think those are the calls), he has by
far the better signal. In Rochester, I think his AM 990
is pretty much at signal parity with 950, the
established AS station, even though 990 runs 5 kW-D/2.5
kW-N vs 950's 1 kW-U.
