George Taylor Morris Leaves WBOS: Is A Format Change On The Way There?

I am not sending this message through my regular E-Mail server. To

In today's (January 5th) edition, the Herald's Dean Johnson reported
that veteran Boston radio personality and programmer George Taylor
Morris has left WBOS-FM (92.9), just days before the Fall Arbritron
books came out.

Is another shoe about to drop, mainly that WBOS will see a format
change?

Last Summer, WBOS was all set to flip to talk. owever, when it's ratings
showed a slight uptick, Greater Media decided (for the moment) to keep
WBOS the way it was, and instead, to flip the then-WSJZ to talk (as
WTKK).

But, as far as I have been able to tell, the uptick has ended and 'BOS
is again seeing it's ratings decline.

Should WBOS change formats--and I feel it will happen at any time--there
are two possibilities I see:

The first is to bring back "Smooth" Jazz to Boston radio. For most of
the last three years, before WSJZ got "blown-up", WSJZ had higher
ratings than WBOS. The second is to flip 'BOS to a "Jammin' Oldies"
clone. Boston is the largest market that doesn't have The Hottest Format
On The Planet, and Greater Media has two "Jammin' Oldies" clones in
Detroit and Philadelphia, so they're somewhat familiar with programming
that format.

I personally feel that WOS' current "AAA" format will be history
sometime in the next few days, and that it will probably be replaced by
a "Jammin' Oldies" clone. This could be the best news little WXRV has
ever had, as most listeners who would be displaced by any WBOS format
change will head to WXRV, and give that little station "decent" ratings
numbers for the first time.
