Re: NorthEast Radio Watch 10/29: Citadel Gets Huge, ShufflesBinghamton's AMs
What are the FCCs rules on what signal overlaps are a problem? In this case,
WBLM usually shows up in the Augusta book and 93.9 WCYI Lewiston is
practically a local signal. WHOM and WPKQ come in like locals. You can get
WJBQ as well, though the Augusta area is very much on the fringe of its
signal.
The obvious choice for the Augusta/Waterville AMs (1400 Augusta and 1490
Waterville) is talk. WGAN and WZAN Portland and WVOM Howland/Bangor are talk
but do not cover this market well and there is no talk station in between
Portland and Bangor. By simulating on 1400 & 1490 they could cover the
market pretty well and would pick up some numbers even if they just ran talk
shows off the satellite.
If Citadel holds on to all the stations they will certainly be the dominate
group in the state. I wonder if they will look to make some Bangor purchases
to fill in their only hole in the state?
