My introduction to him was the TV show "The Great 4th of July
Celebration...."(sic) on Channel 2.  My favorite line was about the
radio on top of the refrigerator (a 5-tube superhet) "the one 
with the built-in hum"  I also loved the bit about the dish
towel chain letter.
