You may be thinking of EGE, Inc., just off I-93 Exit 2 in Salem during
the late 1980s.

Yeah, me too, but when I wanted a second ATS-818CS (love that built-in
timer cassette!) and saw I could buy the same thing at a local store for
about 50 bucks less I bit the bullet and took home a Sangean with the
Radio Shack name on it...hoping no one would look too closely at the
name.
The cassette on my Sangean went kaput a few years back so I took it to
the local Shack to send to their Hingham repair shop. The person behind
the counter couldn't find Sangean on the list of brands accepted for
repair. I asked him to examine the Radio Shack DX-392 on display behind
him and tell me if he could find any difference between that and my
unit, besides the names. He ended up putting it into the system as a
DX-392 and Hingham had no trouble taking care of it.
