remember it well.  and it was still better than some of the boards at those 
stations in FARGO.

but it was light years ahead of those snowbound, corpse-laden outposts that 
served as 5k AM beacons of entertainment and info...
actually using a microphone and headphones on a remote?  beat the old 
portable black rotarty dialup phone that served as a mobile studio in many 
cases. 
in 1983, that was very, very high tech (although WGAN in portland had a full 
blown, board run, itc trip stack equiped 'Bago... marti shots and all).
