On Saturday afternoon (June 26), WERS Boston was heard by a farmer in West
Virginia on a tractor radio with a whip antenna.  The distance: 550 miles. 
It being fundraising time, a station number was announced at frequent
intervals.  After listening for nearly 1/2 hour, this furthest known
listener (ever) called to report enjoying the program -- and to make a
donation.  His comment: "much better than WVPubRad's program."

Not bad for 4 kilowatts at 186 meters above average terrain.
