The tower in question belongs to WRCA and is located at 750 South Street.
It did not collapse, but fell 18 inches onto a concrete slab as its base
insulator was being replaced. A Beacon Tower Service employee was injured.

The tower has been condemned by the City of Waltham and is to be
dismantled during the weekend of June 26-27. WRCA is operating at 1,000
watts using its remaining tower.

WCRB was off the air for about 2 hours, the cause being that its STL
antenna, which is mounted on the condemned tower, was jolted out of
alignment. Programming was resumed from the transmitter site in Newton
about 1:15pm; programming from the studio was resumed about 30 minutes
later, thanks to an ISDN line provided by Greater Media.

That's the story to date.
