Re: Boston Network Radio Affiliations: 1950's and 1960's.

I believe Dan is right about WBZ's original "Live Five." Alan Dary was
hired specifically to be one of the jocks for the new, local
presentation; he started 3/19/56. There is a WBZ jingle package in
existence which has themes for only Carl DeSuze, Dary & Leo Egan.
Unfortunately it is undated. I have nothing else which sheds light on
who worked there in 1956

The WBZ weekly music survey for June 30-July 6, 1957 shows photos of the
"Live Five:" DeSuze (6-9:30A), Dary (9:30A-12N), Marlowe (12-3P),
Prescott (3-7:30P) & Bassett (7:45-11P). This lineup remains intact
(with some time changes) on the surveys through June 24-30, 1958.
However, the May 14-20, 1958 issue has a reference to Leo Egan in Carl
DeSuze's column. It indicates he was Carl's morning news guy.

I have a WBZ aircheck with Leo doing morning drive news on 8/3/59. My
next aircheck of him is doing the same thing for WHDH on 6/21/61.

While this is spotty evidence, it bolsters Dan's recollection that Leo
Egan originally played records before moving into news.
