Here's what I am reasonably certain of:
First, what used became known as WEZE began its life as WLAW:
WEZE - Boston, MA.
1260 kHz - 5 kW, DA-N
Call Letter Sequence: WLAW /WVDA /WEZE
WLAW =3D "LAWrence"
WVDA =3D "Vic Diehm Associates"
WEZE =3D "Easy"
First Licensed: July 2, 1937
First Broadcast: December 19, 1937
Original: 680 kHz at 1 kW-D at Lawrence, MA
12/19/40: Power increased to 5 kW, DA-N.
5/20/47: Power increased to 50 kW, DA-1.
6/17/53: Moved to 1260 kHz at 5 kW, DA-N.
12/2/57: Calls changed to WEZE.
[file snipped here-- there is much more]
It was the new owners who changed it to WEZE-- Vic Diehm had owned it as=
WVDA
from 1953 through 1957.
Second, here is what I have on WTAG's history:
=20
WTAG - Worcester, MA
580 kHz - 5 kW, DA-2
Call Letter Sequence: WDBH =E8 WCTS =E8 WTAG
WCTS =3D "C.T. Sherer" (Department Store)
WTAG =3D "Worcester Telegram & Gazette"
Facility History:=20
First Licensed: May 2, 1924 (License # 1430, then 1860)
First Broadcast: May 11, 1924=20
Original: 1120 kHz at 100 W as WDBH.
3/24/25: Calls changed to WCTS.=20
5/4/25: Power increased to 500 W.
10/6/25: Calls changed to WTAG.
7/3/26: Moved to 550 kHz.
11/15/26: One of 18 original NBC-Red stations.
6/1/27: Moved to 1040 kHz.
6/28/27: Moved to 580 kHz.
11/26/27: Power dropped to 250 W.
6/5/31: Installed RCA 1001-B.
1/31/33: Power increased to 500/250 W.
2/20/33: Power increased to 500 W.
7/2/36: Power increased to 1 kW, DA-1. (Transmitter in Holden)
8/8/39:Power increased to 5/1 kW, DA-1.
1/29/42: Power increased to 5 kW, DA-2.
[file snipped here]
My file on WEEI is still being worked on, but here is what I have:
WEEI - Boston, MA
850 kHz - 50 kW, DA-2
WEEI =3D "Edison Electric Illuminating" =20
=20
First Licensed: October 7, 1924 (DOC # 191)
First Broadcast: September 29, 1924=20
Original: 990 kHz at 500 W. =20
2/4/25: Moved to 630 kHz. =20
11/ /26: Moved to 860 kHz. =20
11/15/26: One of 18 original NBC-Red stations.
6/1/27: Moved to 670 kHz.
11/1/27: Moved to 820 kHz.
11/29/27: Moved to 590 kHz.
7/27/29: Power increased to 1 kW.
3/16/37: Power increased to 5/1 kW, DA-1 (Xmtr: WE 355E-1)
12/19/40: Power increased to 5 kW, DA-1
[file snipped here]
I am not sure if this will be helpful. But I figured I would offer it just=
in
case...
