Boston Phoenix may extend paper's reach into Maine

the suggestion of consolidating the "Portland Phoenix" and WPHX in the
same facility.  Would that the parent weekly had so much sense!

Against this backdrop there is a web of intrigue around the hallowed
halls of the Casco Bay Weekly (a poor man's Phoenix) whose ownership and
management was recently restructured under highly suspect circumstances.
Just as this week's issue came out, the paper's editor was given the
axe.  She essentially wrote her own obituary on the editorial page:
