I don't see how Channels 21 and 50 could have merged.  Thomas Flateley
took 21 off the air March 31, 1989 and it didn't return until September
1, 1995 under BU's ownership.  A Union Leader article on January 1, 1997
quoted a BU  spokesman as saying they were already shopping 21 around for
a new owner.
