Those "blown calls" happen once in awhile. Last week
during a WRKO newscast, Karen Moscow (I think it was
she) said, "WXTK reporter Kevin McNicholas has the
story". After the sound bite ran, she quickly said
"that would be WRKO reporter Kevin McNicholas".

Whenever something like this happens, I would guess
a quick correction or no mention at all would be
appropriate-- a long apology would only bring a lot
of attention to the gaffe. Of course, sometimes the
announcer doesn't even catch the gaffe at all, or
they find out later. (Example--when playing back
an aircheck tape of my WMWM blues show, I found that
I had mentioned "Billy 'Blue' Bland", which should
have been "Bobby 'Blue' Bland", and I hadn't caught
the error until I heard the tape back.)
