WMEX/WITS/WMRE

In fact, there _was_ a way that WITS could have restored
its 5-kW night signal to the rather pathetic level that
existed before the construction of the office complex
just west of the Squantum site. The station could have
retained the Squantum site for daytime operation and
moved its night site to the WEZE (now WPZE) site in
Milton, just a short distance away. The office complex
is east of that site so, the shielding effect is of no
consequence. The signal doesn't go very far east before
it reaches the water.

The 1260 towers are in the proper orientation to allow
the design of a pattern very similar to 1510's old night
pattern. Moreover, there are three towers, which might
have simplified the design because WITS used only two
towers at night.

However, this "solution" would most definitely not have
solved the problem of poor coverage in the western
suburbs. It would simply have restored the signal to its
pathetic level of the pre-State St South days.
