I first noticed them on Fri 1-8 @ 14:25, carrying the same type of
Spanish preaching I had been noting on 102.9 for the previous few days
(102.9 was with a dead carrier later that night, then off that Sun night
and has been off since). I thought 99.9 was the one mentioned from the
Medford area and maybe related to 102.9 and/or 1.640.
Speaking of which, I called up "WRNM" ("Radio Noveaute Mattapan")
and--after reassuring him I was just a "radio junkee" (not a G-man)--he
was quite talkative: "Yes, no, no, no, we are a legitimate low power
station, not a pirate", "You want to come see?" (he actually gave me the
specific address--it's around the Washington St/Gallivan Blvd/Dorchester
Ave area of Dorchester). When I asked him about 102.9 and 102.1, he
became evasively coy ("ah, wellll"), so I said "Oh, you mean THEY are
pirates" and he said yes, so I didn't pursue it. As for "WRMN"-1.640,
given 'FNX's 101.3, 6-7 watt xltr coverage, maybe it *is* a legit low
power?

Yep, they're coming in strong @ South Station--though they seem farther
away, but stronger, than the one that was on 102.9 (i.e., it doesn't
seem to cut through the Pru's image overload and still come in at the
building's sheltered spots, like 102.9 did).
