How strange would it have been for Jerry to have been cast to play himself?
Was Williams ever in the running? Regardless, I wonder why they went with
Carr over others (starving actors)? Only those in this market would get the
Carr connection, right? I doubt moviegoers in Des Moines will even know or
care who played the talk host in the flick. Based on (generally good)
reviews, it seems a standard scenerio of Hollywood's de-emphasis of the meat
of the story and a focus on Travolta/star vehicle/face time (not a pun on
'Face-Off').
BTW, Carr was open about the "first class air, $55 per diems and the
(approx.) $500 a day and a trailer" to do the film. <sarcasm on> I'm so
glad he put a price tag on the experience; without it, what value could it
possibly have? <sarcasm off>
Bill O'Neill <I paid $1.45 for a large coffee today. Found a quarter in an
old winter jacket. Paid $2.22 for 2 burgers, 2 fries....Oh, never mind.>
