>Out of all the stations that are now advertising on >the soon-to-be
lobotomized WQEW, the ONLY one that >reaches New York City with any
kind of stable, >listenable (and static-free!!) signal is WBGO-FM.
>The signals of WVNJ-AM, Oakland NJ; WMTR-AM >Morristown, NJ; WLUX-AM
Islip,
>NY; and WHLI, Hempstead, NY can be received with high >quality radios
in certain surrounding areas of New >York City - such as Westchester
county with WVNJ and >the county line between Queens and Nassau
counties >with WHLI.
Now add WHLI's sister station WGSM AM 740 to the list. As of today
Barnstable Broadcasting is maximizing
'GSM's 25,000 watt daytime signal which covers about 70% of Long
Island to simulcst WHLI-AM.(After the WQEW deal was signed, Dinsey
informed WGSM management that it was free to get out of the contract
at any time it chose to do so). WGSM becomes the first station to
drop Radio Disney affiliation. No big loss for the Big Ears web, I am
sure -- WGSM's 50 watt night-time signal must have frustrated a number
of Radio Disney execs especially when trying to clear all that holiday
inventory in market #17.
