Re: Fwd: "WBZ-FM 106.7FM"

I used to listen to WBZ-FM when it was a classical music station. When I
first heard it, circa 1958-59, they signed on ad 5:00 pm and did a regular
schedule of classical programming until midnight. This included news read
by the FM announcer.

At some point, I called up the station and suggested that during the day,
when the station was then off, they simulcast the AM programs, as other
stations did. About a week later, they were doing that.

Sometime late in 1959, they changed to an automated format, with classical
music from noon to midnight, with no commercials, promos, or anything but a
periodic recorded ID. WBZ-FM would simulcast the AM from 6 AM to noon.
That format remained until sometime in the late 60s or early 70s. Then
they got some kind of syndicated classical music package for awhile, which
included identifiable programs with intros, announcers, etc., and an ID
that came during program breaks. I think that lasted until, sometime in
the early 1970s, WBZ-FM changed to a soft rock format.
