Predictions for 1999

Okay, time to dig out the radio predictions that were done one year AGO that
predicted the state of Boston radio at this point. Any gutsy takers on how
you did?

And who wants in on what the Boston ADI landscape will look like as the
odometer flips to 2000?

- - I predict Entercom will cash-out.
- - Parenteau will return, perhaps footing an FM talker. And he'll be worth
every dollar.
- - Country will actually stay put but not expand to other signals.
- - Radio Disney will make another Goofy attempt, still flush with victory
after taking "standards" out of the birthplace of the genre. (From a radio
powerhouse to a single slide-pot. Who knew?!)
- - Those on WRKO who didn't buy a house will deserve an 'ataboy'.
- - Some radio job security for our J.J.!
- - A better set of books for WBZ TV, for all the subtle reasons (better CBS
and more Jack).
- - One less local stand-alone AM.
- - More 'salsa' to spice up the market.
