Mr. Ross Esq contributed an observation on this subject
with respect to news on so-called classical WCRB. You
should be aware that the introduction of news and
traffic info is VERY controversial as far as 'CRB
listeners are concerned. A little history: there used
to be a bulletin board attached to WCRB's website.
Mis-management there didn't like what listeners had to
say, so they jettisoned it. Now it's free-standing as
www.hippogryph.com/forum. (Best way to get there...
use www.altavista.com as your browser; then type in
www.hippogryph.com and click on "Classical Airwaves");
there's a complaint there right now titled 'Speeding
Towards Destruction' by Al Rajim that is utterly
hilarious.
BTW, in response to this thread, I listened to WCRB's
"newscast" one morning and it ended something like
this: "Tomorrow the Boston Bruins play New York, and
the Boston Symphony plays Beethoven". This is beyond
parody!
