If you were going for that 'sound' then you'd have lots of work cut out for
you, IMO. A jock who is 'active' with the music is more apt to generate a
real-time impression in the listener...sort of like pushing your luck, eh?
I think that the more you try to over-compensate to make the impression of
being "truly live" it will sound forced and may even yield some disgruntled
backwash. I agree that general time references can work if they're close to
the quarters and infrequent.
To generate (accurate) temperature voices would necessitate quite the
interface between an accurate digital thermometer, stored temps in tight
sequence on files and a prayer! (Again, pushing one's luck.) How many
listeners are apt to go away for want of the temperature when there are so
many other very good reasons to tune out? If you use a decent weather
service, the readers generally provide temp. ranges for the day and time to
come.
Besides, isn't the main reason station$ go to the box so that they can get
away from personalitie$ as the focu$?
