On September 19, 1921, to be exact, and I think their license had #224.
Btw, those are not really separate histories-- I help Barry with a lot of
his research, and we wrote that one together for an article in Radio World
called "Pioneer Profiles".   I usually do non-New England stuff for his
archive, since he is on the west coast, but he was asked to do a profile of
WBZ, and I was glad to help!  His site has some very useful information on
it.
