Has there ever been a time when radio jobs were not uncertain? I figured out
along time ago that radio was not a business to be in if you wanted stability,
that is part of the reason that I now do radio for fun and a little extra
money and make my living elsewhere.
In Maine, there has always been big talent turnover and while consolidation
and station sales do result in changes, I don't think it has been any worse
then in past years. The only difference I see is that some jobs are
eliminated through consolidation, particularly at the management level.
Radio had lots of uncertainty and little stability before 1996. You can't
blame everything on the Telecom Act.
