Sounds to me like CBS/Infinity is trying to get a bigger piece of the male
demo in the market. WTIC-FM, WRCH do very well with women, and WWYZ and WTIC-
AM do okay with men, but ZMX is supposed to be the "male" station in the
cluster, and it's been underperforming for a while now. Take Sebastion off
the station and the numbers would be far worse than HCN's. Since HCN has
bottomed out, ZMX may be figuring to take them on, hoping to force them from
the format. Hartford simply cannot support two classic rockers, especially
since WAQY and WPLR-New Haven boom into the market as well. This will be a
radio game of "chicken" to see who bolts from the format first. Either that,
or it's a "dummy" format until the real changes are ready to go. This one
will be fun to watch.
