Where would that spectrum be without directional FM capabilities.
Incidently, as folklore has it, the former xmtr installation for WJUL,
originally WLTI Lowell that went on in 1971 was a Phelps Dodge experiment in
FM directional, and was horizontally polarized only (1.7 kW ERP, 39' HAAT).
The stick still exists atop the UMass library on the North Campus.  It may
still be licensed as back-up.  Not sure.
