Channel 68 gets Celtics games

So much for the rumors of channel 68's demise. In today's Boston Herald, it
was reported that both channel 68 and the Boston Celtics have reached a three-
year, revenue-sharing based contract to carry all non-nationally televised
road games. The Celtics were pitched an entire schedule rights package from
Fox Sports New England, but were more interested in keeping the team name out
there and expanding the fan base, the story said. (Channel 38 is now only left
with one pro sports franchise, the Bruins.)

Admittedly, WABU takes no risk on this, and it's a pretty great deal,
especially if the Celtics regain their prominence of years gone by. But, a
team that has been on four different UHF stations in 10 years (56, 25, 38, now
68) doesn't say much about staying power, either.
