FM skip

While driving in Western Mass. today, I got some
distant FM signals in the late morning. I was on the
Mass Pike near the sign which proclaims the 
"highest point" when I heard part of "Car Talk" on
WKNO-FM 90.7 in Memphis (or it may have been
a nearby sister station of WKNO).
Later, on Route 2 in Greenfield, I was picking up
"Whad Ya Know" at 91.9 FM, on what was apparently a station based in
or near Carbondale,IL.
